Challenge
After Simpleview acquired a specialized Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, the product had to integrate seamlessly into the existing Simpleview tech ecosystem while enhancing its value for users. The challenge was to make this new system not just functional, but intuitively usable for clients and aligned with Simpleview’s broader product offerings.

Role
UX & UI Design, user testing

Modernizing a Digital Asset Management system to enhance usability and simplify workflows

UX Process & Strategic Design

Research & Competitive Analysis

To inform the design, I studied existing DAM solutions and features, pinpointing essential user needs across workflows:

  • Importance of asset types and orientation

  • Need for robust filtering and sorting options

  • Streamlined browsing → funneling → downloading workflows

  • Viewing considerations such as zoom level, aspect ratio, and file size

  • Efficient batch upload and download interfaces

In-Person User Testing

I conducted task-driven user sessions to validate assumptions and uncover usability barriers:

  • Prompted users to search, favorite, upload, and download assets

  • Tested discoverability, ensuring UI elements were intuitive and logically located

Key UX findings and enhancements

User insights directly drove two major feature implementations:

  • Asset Queue (“Add-to-Cart” inspired)
Users can mark and review assets before bulk downloading - reducing friction and increasing efficiency.

  • Inline Asset Renaming in Grid View
Editing metadata directly from the grid eliminated unnecessary loading and navigation steps.

Impact

Designed and launched a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system that integrated with the Simpleview CMS, enabling seamless workflows for uploading, organizing, and publishing assets to destination websites.

Created a new product offering for the Sales team, expanding revenue opportunities while streamlining content management for clients.
